Privacy Policy — Scan & Log

Scan & Log is a food logging app made by Ido Gura (Mr Guru Fit). This policy explains
exactly what the app stores, what leaves your phone, and how to get rid of it. It is written
to be read, not to be survived.
The short version: what you eat, what you weigh and what your watch measures stays
on your phone. Nothing about your food is uploaded anywhere. The only thing I ever receive
is your email address, and only if you type it in yourself.
What stays on your device
- Everything you log: foods, weights in grams, times, photos of products, and the product database the app learns.
- Your profile: sex, height, age, morning weight, and your fat-loss goal.
- Data read from Health Connect: steps, workout sessions, calories burned.
All of it lives in your phone's local storage. It is not sent to any server, it is not backed up
by me, and I cannot see it. Uninstalling the app deletes it. The "Backup data" button in Settings
writes a file that only you control.
Health Connect
If you connect the app to Health Connect, it reads your steps, exercise sessions and calories burned
in order to show your daily energy balance, and it writes the meals you log back as nutrition records
so other health apps can see them.
- Health Connect data is used only inside the app, on your device, to display your numbers.
- It is never transmitted off the device, never sold, never shared with third parties, and never used for advertising.
- You can revoke any permission at any time in Health Connect, and the app keeps working with manual entry.
The camera
The camera is used to read barcodes and, if you choose, to photograph a product or its nutrition label.
Barcode reading happens on your device. Photos you take are stored on your device with the log entry.
No camera image is uploaded to me.
What leaves your device
- Barcode lookups. When you scan a product that your phone does not know yet, the barcode number
is sent to the public Open Food Facts database to get the product name and nutrition values.
Only the barcode is sent — no personal data.
- Your email address, only if you enter it on the signup page or in the app. It is stored by
MailerLite, my email provider, and used to send you the app and updates about the challenge.
Every email has an unsubscribe link that works immediately.
What I do not do
- No advertising, no ad networks, no tracking pixels in the app.
- No selling or renting of any data to anyone, ever.
- No accounts and no cloud copy of your food log at this time.
Deleting your data
- App data: uninstall the app, or clear its storage in Android Settings. That erases everything permanently.
- Health Connect: revoke permissions in Health Connect; records the app wrote can be deleted there too.
- Your email: click unsubscribe in any email, or write to
mr.guru.fit@gmail.com and ask me to delete it. I will,
within 30 days, and I will confirm when it is done.
Children
The app is not intended for children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect their data.
Not medical advice
Scan & Log records what you tell it and does arithmetic. It does not diagnose, treat or give
medical advice. Talk to a doctor or a dietitian before changing how you eat or train, especially
if you have a medical condition.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and material changes will be announced
in the app and by email.
