Privacy Policy — Scan & Log

Scan & Log is a food-logging and calorie-tracking app. This policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and with whom it is shared. Using the app constitutes acceptance of this policy.

Data we collect

• Google account (optional): if you sign in, your email and name are stored to identify you and back up your data to the cloud. Sign-in is not required.
• Your food log & personal inputs: what and when you ate and amounts, plus data you enter (height, age, weight, activity level) to compute calories.
• Camera: used to scan barcodes and photograph products. Images are processed on-device; a product photo you choose to add may be sent to cloud storage (below).
• Health Connect (optional): with your permission, the app reads steps/activity from Health Connect to estimate calories burned. This is not shared with third parties and is used only for calculation.

How we use it

• To provide food logging, tracking and calculations.
• To back up and sync your data across devices when signed in.
• To improve the shared product catalog (below).

Sharing

• Shared product catalog: when you add a new product (name, nutrition, optional photo), only the product details — never your identity or your food log — may be added to a shared catalog so all users benefit.
• Service providers: Google Firebase (auth & cloud storage), Open Food Facts (barcode lookup — the barcode is sent to the service), Cloudinary and Make.com (product photo and feedback processing/storage), each under their own privacy policies.
• "Contact us" messages: the subject, text, any attached screenshot, and your signed-in account email (if any) are sent to the developer to handle your request.
• We do not sell personal data and do not use it for advertising.

Storage & security

Data is stored locally on your device, and when signed in also on secured Google Firebase servers under your account only. A manual backup is saved to your device's Downloads folder.

Data deletion

Delete local data by uninstalling the app. To stop cloud sync, sign out in Settings. To request deletion of your cloud data, contact us below.

Children

The app is not directed to children under 13.
